Accommodation
A student may arrange their own accommodation in Buenos Aires and simply participate in the language course. However, we recommend a total package if a student wishes to maximize their language skills. The experience of living with an Argentine family, living with other students at the school residence or in one of our independent student flats will provide more practice opportunities and therefore enhance a student's ability to converse in Spanish.
Suitable accommodation is a very important component for an effective Spanish Program. For this reason, AMAUTA dedicates a great deal of time checking and evaluating our accommodation options and therefore giving you the best possibilities available.
What is best for you? This depends a lot on your personality! Because we know that each student is different, AMAUTA currently offers various options for accommodation in Buenos Aires. You can also combine different options if you would like to try a bit of everything. |
HOST FAMILY
|

|
The host family option has been developed particularly for those who wish to make a cultural journey with the aim of not only learning the language, but also learning about Argentina through immersion into an Argentine family. AMAUTA guest families are carefully chosen and monitored through regular inspections and student feedback. Every student is asked to report to the school regarding their accommodation experience by way of a questionnaire. This way, we can ensure that each of our students are having the best experience possible with the local families.
The families that work with AMAUTA in the host family program are middle class families. Most of them live about 25-35 minutes walking distance from the school by public transport such as the local bus or el subte ( the metro ) which are available at a cost of $0.50. Taxis are also relatively cheap and cost approximately $5.00.
The student will always have their own private room (with a lock) and will share the living room, kitchen, bathroom and if available, courtyard or garden with the family and any other students. We prefer to place only one student in each family to enable each student the chance to experience the unlimited opportunities of practicing Spanish. Although this might not always be possible, AMAUTA guarantees you a maximum of three students per family. Host families provide two meals a day, breakfast (7.30am - 9.30am) and dinner (21.30 – 22.30pm). Generally, these times are flexible and the student may make other arrangements for meals if they wish. Special diets may be catered for, such as vegetarian or diabetic, if we are advised in advance.
