Peruvian Culture Courses

INCA CIVILIZATION

Learn more about this mythical civilization in our newly designed course including lectures, field trips, videos and pictures. Students participate in a 4 hour Spanish Course (group or private) during the morning (needs to be booked separately) and attend the “Inca Civilization Program” during the afternoons (two hours). This course has fixed starting dates (see pricelist) and an intermediate level of Spanish is required. No pre-knowledge about history or old civilizations required.

• Maximum number of students: 6 in the Spanish Course, 10 in the afternoon Program.

CHRISTMAS COURSE

Don´t loose the opportunity to study in Cusco and experience the enchantment of Christmas in South America! The Christmas Program includes extra activities including the visit to the singular Santurantikuy, the Andean Christmas market. We will also visit several churches where students can observe impressive, huge traditional Nacimientos, which represent the birth of Jesus. The program also includes a Traditional Christmas Dinner with a Peruvian Family. Students participate in a four hour Spanish Course (group or private) during the morning (has to be booked separately) and attend the “Christmas Program” during the afternoons (two hours). This course has fixed starting dates (see pricelist) and a high-beginners level of Spanish is required.

QUECHUA

Be part of this unique course in the original language of the Incas, “Runasimi” or Quechua. With just a couple of hours, students will receive an insight of how rich traditional Peruvian cultures and languages are. People in Cusco, specifically at the countryside, will greatly appreciate: an “Allillanchu” (Good morning, how are you); it will immediately open doors for you. Quechua is not an easy language and a intermediate level of Spanish is required. However, the course is completely communicative-oriented and in a short period of time students will be able to speak and understand slowly-spoken sentences. This course can be booked by hours (10 minimum) and can start any day of the week.

PERUVIAN CULTURAL PROGRAM

This workshop is tailored to people who would like to learn more about the Peruvian culture and who would like to combine these studies with learning the Spanish language. It is an interactive course that teaches you in a practical and creative way more about the Peruvian culture. You can focus on weaving or music.

In the music option, our teachers will teach you more about traditional Peruvian music and instruments (songs, lyrics, and also instruments such as zampoña, bombo, quena, charango).

In the weaving option you will be taught traditional weaving techniques and will also learn about the symbolism of Inca designs used in weaving.

This course has fixed starting dates (see pricelist) and an intermediate level of Spanish is a requirement. For the music option you need some prior knowledge of the guitar.
