SPANISH AND EXCURSIONS

Peru is such an admirable country that it is (almost) a pity to spend so much time in the classroom! AMAUTA especially designed this SPANISH AND EXCURSIONS package for those who definitely do not want to loose the opportunity to explore Peru, and participate in as much tours and as many activities as possible, complementing them with a Spanish Course.

The program includes a total of 44 hours of Spanish Instruction (combination of group and individual classes) and 7 excursions in and around Cusco: City Tour in Cusco, The Sacred Valley Tour, a day trip to Machu Picchu, an exciting Jungle Excursion (3 days, 2 nights), River Rafting, and an excursion to either Puno (floating Urus Islands, the island of Taquile, Sillustani) or Arequipa (Santa Catalina Convent, the city of Arequipa and the Colca Canyon) during the last weekend.

The total program takes three weeks. Extra weeks can be booked upon request; please inquire about the options for excursions during additional weeks.

Accommodation during this program can be arranged for at the School Residence, with a Guest Family or in a hotel (not included in the price).

ALL IN ONE : SPANISH + EXCURSIONS + VOLUNTEERING

Upon request of many alumni, AMAUTA presents for the first time this year the possibility to study Spanish, participate in the Volunteer Work Program and enjoy several organized excursions and activities, all in a 3-week program!.

This program is particularly designed for people who want to try a bit of everything but unfortunately don't have enough time. We have included the best of all our programs, all in one!.

Participants take a total of 40 hours of individual Spanish Classes (one week in Cusco and one week in the Sacred Valley of the Inca's and 20 of volunteering in a project for (street) children, a school or a hospital.

Three weeks of accommodation at the Students Residence are included as well as free participation in the Cultural Workshop Program (total of 20 hours), a day trip to the famous lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu, a hike in the surroundings of Cusco and a River Rafting or Horse Back Riding Trip in Cusco.

Different activities are organized (meeting, workshops) while volunteering; furthermore volunteers can count with the continuous support of our Volunteer Coordinator, who will have at least one personal interview with each volunteer and take him/her to the project the first day of work.

All volunteers participate in all the free activities for AMAUTA students.

SPANISH & TREKKING

Follow in the steps of the conquistadors with this package that allows you to learn Spanish while also getting out and seeing what Peru is famous for - its mountains and wonderful Inca Ruins.

You study a Group Course in Cusco in the first week, and in the second week you will hike the famous Traditional Inca Trail. What makes this package special is that in addition to a guide, one of our teachers will accompany the group. You will have the opportunity to practice your Spanish, to talk about the flora and fauna in Spanish at your level, and learn about the history of the Inca ruins.

Please Note:

This tour must be booked and paid for at least 60 days before start date. Refunds are NOT possible after you have made the booking (except for the Spanish course according to our cancellation rules). However, there can be NO refund for the trekking part as it is not possible to change the date of departure nor to cancel it, once it has been booked. This is due to the Inca Trail booking regulations.

This course has fixed starting dates, (see pricelist). An Intermediate level of Spanish is a requirement, and you should have reasonable physical condition.

SPIRITUALITY AND SPANISH

Peru is believed to be one of the most spiritual places on earth, and in this program you can learn more about yourself, through meditation, ceremonial activities and rituals of the Andean world. While learning about yourself, you can also discover the fascinating beliefs of the Inca people.

A highlight of the program is a hike of meditation through the sacred mountains, following the Inca spiritual route to Machu Picchu, an area of intense magnetism. Our guide will be a shaman (Andean priest) and our teachers in the other activities are specialised guides. Included are a ceremony of coca reading, and a “Pago a la Tierra” whereby we will make offerings to create harmony with the Andean deities.

In order to greater understand Peruvian culture, we will study Spanish during the first week of the program at AMAUTA Sacred Valley, a peaceful place of retreat, perfect for spiritual reflection and relaxation. During the afternoons and the weekends we will travel to various parts of the Sacred Valley and Cusco.

This course has fixed starting dates, which coincide with the equinoxes and solstices (see pricelist). A high beginner level of Spanish is a requirement, and you should have reasonable physical condition.
