Amauta in Taray
Amauta Spanish School in Taray. The current school building is divided into a sleeping and a study/teaching area and has a lovely, sunny garden with fruit trees. The building is outside Urubamba, surrounded by snow peaked mountains and tipical houses. There is a large common room with a fireplace.
Chinchero
Located at 3700 meters above sea level, and 28 km. from Cusco on the way to Urubamba. The population lives in dwellings whose foundations and stone walls come from pre-Hispanic constructions, with colonial and modern additions.
Ollantaytambo
Agricultural, administrative, religious, military and social complex which the Spaniards called "Fortaleza". You can find at 97 km. from Cusco. Superb Inca fortress made of megalithic stones where Manco Inca confronted Hernando Pizarro.
Urubamba
Urubamba is a small, quiet town in the Sacred Valley, about 80 km from Cusco (an hour bus drive).
