Teen Spanish and Activities Camp

Rainforest in Peru

If Mum and Dad are busy working back home, or want to go travelling through Peru or Argentina, or prefer to study at AMAUTA as well and in the meantime want their kids to have a great experience, why not have them participate in our two-week Teen Spanish & Activities Camp?! We offer three locations: in the Sacred Valley in Peru, in the Peruvian rainforest, or in the city of Buenos Aires. This is an experience they will never forget!

AMAUTA will assign a special bilingual Program Coordinator who will be with the students at all times during their stay in Peru, offering a secure, pleasant and safe environment for your children. All local transportation to and from the activities as well as to and from the school is included. Accommodation, entrance fees, guidance and meals are all included.

Teen Spanish and Activities Camp
Option 1: Teen Spanish & Activities Camp, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas (Peru) – 2 weeks
Our student in Amauta Sacred ValleyOur student in Amauta Sacred Valley

This is a great opportunity for teens who are interested in the Peruvian culture and its history, cooking and making bonfires, rafting and hiking, and having fun while learning Spanish.

The camp is organized at our school in the Sacred Valley, about one hour by bus from Cusco. The students will feel totally immersed in Peruvian culture from the moment they arrive. The breathtaking scenery and the colorful dresses of the local people are extraordinary and they will start feeling the magic from the moment our camp leaders welcome them onto the campus. From this moment on, alongside four hours of Spanish classes daily, they will enjoy exciting sportive and cultural daily activities such as a hike to the nearby ruins of Pisac with a guided tour, an excursion to the salt mines, a salsa dancing class, a Peruvian cooking class, a music class, a bonfire and a day of river rafting. We will go to Cusco twice to visit Inca monuments and to do some additional shopping, and over the weekend we will visit the famous ruins of Machu Picchu.

The camp starts in Cusco on day 1, when we leave for the school in the Sacred Valley, and ends on day 14 when we return to Cusco. Additional days in Lima and/or Cusco can be organized. This camp can also be combined with the Rainforest Camp.

Option 2: Teen Spanish & Activities Camp, in the Peruvian rainforest of Tambopata – 1 week

Can you imagine a more exciting classroom than our camp lodge in the Peruvian Amazon? Did you ever imagine your children studying Spanish with jungle sounds in the background? This one-week camp is a unique opportunity to live and study in the jungle while participating in fun and educational activities.

Our camp starts at the airport in Puerto Maldonado; our staff fly in from Cusco but you can fly in either from Cusco or directly from Lima, whichever is more convenient. From Puerto Maldonado, we will be transferred in a dugout canoe up the Tambopata River to our lodge. Over the course of the journey, we will see the vegetation change into a virgin rainforest.

At the lodge, you will combine Spanish classes with excursions such as a night walk searching for nocturnal animals, an exploration by foot and canoe, a bath in hot water springs, a search for caimans, and many other fun and exciting activities. Our nature guide will be with us during the jungle activities and explain the wonders of the rainforest as well as the complex and interesting eco-systems.

The camp ends on day 7 at the airport in Puerto Maldonado. Additional days in Cusco and /or Lima can be organised.

Option 3: Teen Spanish & Activities Camp, in the exciting city of Buenos Aires – 2 weeks
Tango in the exciting city of Buenos AiresTango in the exciting city of Buenos Aires

Let your kids have the holiday of a lifetime while under our supervision in the arty city of Buenos Aires. Your teen children will study Spanish in the mornings, and during the afternoons we will concentrate on two or three activities as follows.

  • Tango
Argentina is famous for its great tango scene and our private teacher will teach the first steps of this incredible dance, during two or three weekly sessions.
  • Theater
Buenos Aires has a very intense cultural life including many theatrical performances. For those who are interested in theatre and who have an intermediate level of the Spanish language, we offer an interesting drama course. The course focuses on theatre, stage make up and mime techniques.
  • Volunteer Work
Two or three times a week we will venture out to do volunteer work in one of the local orphanages in Buenos Aires. This is a great possibility for the participants to see another side of life in Argentina, doing some social work and meeting other young people, those in totally different circumstances.
  • Excursions
Finally, during the weekend we will visit the amazing Waterfalls of Iguazu!
We will take care of the students from the moment they arrive in Buenos Aires and transfer them to their specially trained host families, where they will stay until the very last minute of the program (day 14). Additional days or weeks of accommodation and Spanish classes can be added outside of the camp.
