AMAUTA gives the opportunity to learn how to live in Peru, a place with a very different culture. I have never met so many interesting people than here. When you are staying in the residence you are very free to do what you want, like explore the city, practice Spanish, read a book or just sleep, haha. Oh, the teachers here are like everybody says, so nice and good. I could write much more about AMAUTA. It`s an experience I will never forget.

I really liked AMAUTA, I met a lot of people from all over the world. The people were always very helpful, I could always go to them with my questions. Also I liked the meals here every day! Besides that AMAUTA is at a really good location, I discovered Cusco through AMAUTA. I loved it here!

Attending Spanish classes at AMAUTA was both fun and I have learned a lot too! The professors at AMAUTA are very helpful and make each class entertaining. After 4 weeks of classes I feel way more confident communicating in my volunteer placement.

I really enjoyed studying at AMAUTA. All the teachers are excellent and the classes have a lot of variety. I had a lot of fun attending the cooking classes that were organized by AMAUTA. If you intend to study Spanish, this is the place to be!

AMAUTA school is a very cozy school where you get to know a lot of new people with all kinds of nationalities. The school is located in the middle of Cusco, near the “Plaza de Armas”. I really learned to speak Spanish very well during my Spanish courses. The staff and the students are like one big family.

I always get help if I need some. I like the food. I dislike that the shower is cold sometimes. I like the house and the facilities. I liked the Halloween party and I find it nice that AMAUTA organizes those kinds of things.

Working with the elderly in our project has been the most rewarding experience, for both of us. We have been able to assist with the physical therapy for the sick men and women as well as do laundry, serve meals and clean up. Assisting the elderly women to and from lunch has been so appreciated by these women. They cry, thank us profusely and try to give us gifts such as fruit to show their gratitude. Today we played football with the healthier elderly men and some nursing students. This activity was filled with laughter by those playing and those that were watching. This experience has done more for us than we could ever do for them. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

Since I arrived at AMAUTA I have made a lot of new friends from all over the world. When I first got here, I didn´t speak a word of Spanish. Now, I can actually catch a cab, go to a restaurant and have small conversations in Spanish. The teachers try the best they can to teach you as much Spanish as possible. Now, I´m volunteering with kids. They are all really nice to me. They are not so nice to each other so my job is to make sure they don´t fight or don´t spit on each other. In two weeks my time in Cusco is over, then I´ll have to go back to reality. I´ll be really sad to leave Cusco. This city is great!

AMAUTA School has been a great experience. I only went to the school for 2 weeks, but it feels like I really learned the basics. Classes were not only interesting, but we also had a lot of laughs! Small classes and doing things likes visits to the market and talking about food are great way to learn Spanish.
