Thank you, AMAUTA, for the opportunity to work with Rossana, Elizabeth, Marina, Raul, and Marlene, and of course the very junior citizens of Cusco. This volunteer work has allowed us to experience the universal magic of childhood in a culture very different from our own.

We have been made to feel very welcome at the centre. The staff has been patient with our emerging Spanish abilities and have even offered us introductory Quechua! The work site is very handy for AMAUTA students living in residence. The hours are well suited to morning people and leave a good portion of the day available for more Spanish classes, exploring, or shopping. The volunteers' Spanish classes that AMAUTA provides to all volunteers, were very helpful in arming us with the necessary "imperativo" form of communication - "!No golpees!", "!No grites!"

We believe the project would be better described as a municipal daycare. The hours are more accurately 9:15 - 12:30. We saw very little organized activity and feel that the best type of volunteer for this project would be an early childhood educator with intermediate/ advanced Spanish skills. Otherwise, volunteers "babysit" the groups while staff are engaged elsewhere.

To make the experience easier for the children and their families, we suggest AMAUTA/our donation money be used on an ongoing basis for prepackaged damp face wipes post meals and snacks, plastic bibs of all sizes to cover clothes that families wash by hand(!) - plastic could be easily wiped and doesn't require laundering - and toothbrushes and toothpaste ... there is a lovely wooden toothbrush holder but we didn't see the toothbrushes in use.

All in all we have enjoyed playing with the children and we hope we have made their days brighter.
Sincerely,

Maureen and Larry Green

I would recommend AMAUTA Spanish school because the teachers are all in all really sympathetic in their attitude to teach. If you have classes you have fun. The school is also well situated near the Plaza de Armas where you can find all facilities such as small shops to buy water, restaurants, clubs etc.

At AMAUTA you have really good and nice teachers. Their classes are serious, professional and really diverse. Because of this there are so many students with different nationalities, ages and characteristics. So if you will come to AMAUTA I’m sure you are going to make some new friends. Next to that, the school is located perfectly close to the vibrant plaza de Armas.

During my four weeks at AMAUTA my Spanish improved immensely thanks to the wonderful teachers I had.
Everyone at the school was friendly and accommodating- I felt right at home. The free cooking and salsa classes not only allowed me to fell more immersed in the culture, but it was also so much fun and a great way to meet new people. The city of Cusco was absolutely amazing…there is so much to see and do. I did not want to leave!

AMAUTA was a great experience for me. Whether taking group or private classes, I always learned something and felt more confident with my Spanish throughout my stay in Cusco. Being new to Cusco, it was a great way to make an incredible group of new friends from all over the world. The teachers were amazing as well. I am the third person in my family to attend AMAUTA. My sister went there and is now fluent in Spanish. My mother went there for a couple weeks as well and used her newly acquired Spanish skills on a recent Habitat For Humanity trip to Guatemala. Next time I return to Cusco, I will definitely be enrolling in AMAUTA once again. Thanks AMAUTA!!

I would recommend AMAUTA because it is a School which offers kind of everything you want. The Spanish classes are professional and can be adjusted to whatever level of Spanish you may have. Furthermore, the school gives you the opportunity to live either in a guest family at the student residence in school itself, which is located at about 300 meters from the Plaza de Armas, which is the centre of nightlife in Cusco. The possibilities of volunteer work are endless. AMAUTA will help you find the project where you can help the local people with what you want. AMAUTA will take good care of you and your stay in Cusco will be an experience of a Lifetime!

AMAUTA has literally been one of the best language schools I have been to. Having a complex arrival time the sales team sorted everything for me and were incredibly hospitable. They sorted everything from my classes to my time spent working in the Juvenile center. I really would recommend AMAUTA above other schools and the campus and location are very central. Classes can be organized to fit around other activities you want to do and at the weekends AMAUTA offers a huge range of excursions.

I think of AMAUTA as a little oasis in the middle of Cusco. Situated not far from the Plaza de Armas it has an ideal location for visiting sights in and around Cusco, even the Sacred Valley or Machu Picchu. Here one can meet people from all over the world, make new friends and have good times. The Spanish classes are well organized. In small groups and on various different levels. Also I think that the teachers are friendly and can build up good relationships with their students. Being able to learn Spanish in class one half of the day and have time to practice it on the streets of Cusco is great.

Coming to Peru has always been my biggest dream, luckily this year it has come true. It took me a long time to choose a Spanish school. From all the available options I decided that I would spend my future 4 months at AMAUTA and I wouldn´t have changed my decision for any other. Since I´ve been traveling alone I was looking for a place where I´d feel safe, surrounded by people with the same needs; Learning Spanish in a great atmosphere, willing to travel, explore the city during the day, and having fun in the nightlife. I know my choice was right and I recommend AMAUTA to anyone who wants to make his trip unforgetable!
