It is a good environment for learning Spanish. The classes are challenging but not unmanageable, and the school is a great place to make friends. Overall, it was a good experience, and I would do it again.

4 gute grande…

While learning much practical Spanish, I also had the opportunity to be immersed in the language plus local cultures. AMAUTA’s location near the Plaza de Armas allows you to view and experience Peruvian life. ( As well as experience an active night life) Additionally the associated travel agency helps you discover historic and other points of interest in the area by arranging your Peruvian excursions. I have learned as much about myself as I have about Spanish.

After my first week here I am convinced that AMAUTA is the place for all age groups to learn Spanish. True, the majority of students may be “ slightly younger “ than myself, but I am experiencing a warm-felt atmosphere of relaxed co-existence. The highly qualified teaching staff analyze the students individual standards and easily find the appropriate teaching methods to broaden their command of the foreign language. Living in a well-chosen family of open-minded, friendly Peruvians helps me a lot to make progress: the knowledge freshly acquired in morning lessons can immediately be applied in talks with family members at lunchtime. It all adds up to the wonderful experience of a German beyond sixty in a very different foreign country. Go ahead like this AMAUTA!

Today is my last day at AMAUTA. Monday I am starting my volunteer work. I had 4 weeks and 4 hours a day Spanish classes. I was a total beginner and I learned a lot. All the teachers are so patient and very kind. Every week we had different teachers and I think that is good. I had a very good time and I would like thank all the teachers.
¡Gracias!

I spent eight weeks with AMAUTA, learning Spanish for four weeks and doing voluntary work for another four weeks.
Having had no Spanish knowledge at my arrival in Cusco it was a bit special going to my host family not being able to say more than “me llamo Lars” but they were friendly and helpful and our conversations got longer each day. The teachers at the school were great and made learning fun, teaching also lots about the country and the culture.
Then I started my work and moved to the residence at the school which was very fun and practical since it’s located right in the town centre. It was after my first four weeks in Cusco when I decided I would like to the AMAUTA school in Buenos Aires and do two weeks there which was definitely worth every penny! The school there is a bit smaller though still offers interesting after school projects and courses. I only worked three days a week in Buenos Aires which was fine with me since I could explore this great city. I also really enjoyed my stay at the student residence in BA during that time, meeting lots of students from South America and speaking quite a bit of Spanish. Overall it was a great experience.

I would recommend AMAUTA for everyone who wants to learn Spanish in a friendly, pretty chilled out atmosphere. That’s also a great place to meet new friends and enjoy yourself.
Teachers are very helpful and quite demanding at the same time. You usually work pretty hard during the classes, so there’s a huge chance your Spanish will improve a lot, even if you’re staying just few days in here.
