I personally attended the school located in the city of Cusco, surrounded by Andean mountains, at Calle Suecia. From school it was just a short walk to the ancient ruins of Sacsayhuaman as well as to the Plaza de Armas of Cusco.
While at the school, my passion for Spanish was developed and this quickly became a life changing experience.
Having been explosed to the Spanish language before was helpfull, but the immersion experience I had with this particular school far surpassed anything I could have expected.
With many different hands on activities, you’re never bored during the Spanish classes in Peru. The AMAUTA teachers are well versed in techniques to assist you with your communication skills. The educational trips into the community were among one of my favorite parts of the classes. Wether it was a trip to the market in Cusco, to learn about local food, or to a museum to focus on the art history, every trip was well planned and correlated well with what we were doing already in class.
The dedication each teacher gives to their students is impressive. My experience with AMAUTA inspired me to become a language teacher myself back in my home country. More than a year later and I am currently applying techniques teachers at AMAUTA used to teach me with my own students.
