Buenos Aires is a big city and like every big city you need take certain precautions and be aware of things going on around you. You need to keep in mind some basic rules such as: do not carry a lot of cash around with you, do not walk along the streets with your phone in your hand and do not open your bag in a busy metro. Don’t be paranoid, but please BE AWARE! If you follow these rules you will usually have a safe stay. Many tourists visit Buenos Aires every year and have a great time.
AMAUTA began in 1996 and received many students in Cusco and Buenos Aires. The school is located in the center of Buenos Aires in a historical sightseeing building called Palacio Barolo. We have an average of 15 – 30 students per week in the low season, and 30 – 50 in the high season. The school is perfectly located on Avenida de Mayo between the Congreso and Casa Rosada. All our teachers are professionals and native Spanish speakers. Because of the large number of students that visit our school, we can always offer group lessons with other students of your level.
AMAUTA is a school with programs at different locations and with a professional volunteer and trainee program. And if you cannot decide, just visit us and sign up for our free trial class. Please check our website and find out about what our past students say ( Our Student Testimonials ).
That is difficult to say as it depends on your way of living while staying in Buenos Aires. Some things in Buenos Aires are cheap and other things are more expensive. Public transportation in Buenos Aires is quite cheap; it will cost you about US$0.50. A meal in a restaurant will cost you about US$15,00. A beer or a coffee in a bar costs between US$2.00 and US$4.00, depending on where you are going.
We strongly recommend you to get a health and travel insurance before you arrive
No, for Buenos Aires no vaccinations are required, it is like a European city; in some places you can even drink water from the tap. But just in case we recommend you check with your own doctor or travel clinic back home.
Wherever you are in Buenos Aires there is WIFI available. You can get an Argentine SIM card for only US$1, this makes calling to other students a lot cheaper. If you really would like to have internet everywhere you can buy an internet bundle for US$0.20 a day.
In Buenos Aires, it is very advantageous to have Dollars, Pounds or Euros with you. If you have dollars with you, you can give it to the school AMAUTA Buenos Aires, the next day someone will come to the school to change your dollars into pesos. The exchange rate varies but is currently $ 1.00 dollars to $ 13 pesos and € 1, to $ 16 pesos. It is also possible to exchange other currencies but the exchange rate isn´t that good. (nov 2014).
For most Western countries, you do not need a visa to enter Argentina but please check this with the Argentine embassy in your country.
