Cathedral of Cusco, important landmark
The Cathedral of Cusco is one of the main landmarks of the city. Its official name is Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin. Before the Spanish colonists arrived in Cusco, the Cathedral was used as the Inca palace of Viracocha, the ruler of the Kingdom of Cusco. In 1983 the cathedral was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the City of Cusco listing.
