It was named Señor de los Temblores, "Lord of Tremors", because of an interesting event that happened a long time ago on March 31st. It is said that when an earthquake devastated the city, the image pacified the fury of it and for that reason it was given the name. The Señor de los Temblores has become one of the most respected images of Peru.
