Alfonso Cuarón

Biography

(born in Mexico City, Mexico on November 28, 1961) is a writer, producer and director of Mexican cinema. Carlos Cuarón's brother and was married to Italian film critic Annalisa Bugliani. He is considered one of Mexico's most promising filmmakers of his generation, along with others like Guillermo del Toro and Alejandro González Iñárritu who have also achieved international significance in recent years.
Cuarón began directing an independent film in his native country but international recognition came with American productions such as A Little Princess (based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett) and his fourth feature film, Y Tu Mama Tambien. He later led big-budget projects and well received by critics like Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Children of Men.
