Juan Bautista Stagnaro

Biography

Born in Mar del Plata in 1945, where his father, an Italian immigrant, was a fisherman. Then his family moved to the traditional Genoese neighborhood of La Boca.
It started in the art publishing a book of stories at age 19, hard task of birds that received the sponsorship of the National Endowment for the Arts. Study film at the National Film School, graduating from filmmaker, and economics at the University of Buenos Aires, receiving degree in political economy.
Since his youth he worked with Beda Docampo Feijoo, his companion of film school. Both come in contact with Maria Luisa Bemberg, who commissioned him to write the script for Camilla (1984), which would be nominated for an Oscar.
Among the films made, usually as a director and screenwriter, highlights the multi Houses of Fire (1995), starring Miguel Angel Sola, which recounts the life of Argentinean doctor who discovered the Chagas-Mazza. Also participating in 18 J, collective work of memory on the terrorist attack on the AMIA in 1994, making the episode gave entitled "The Divine Comedy".
