Monica Steuer

Biography

Monica Steuer was born in Brazil and raised in Mexico. She is a trilingual award-winning actor with a vast experience in theatre, film and television. She graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts receiving the Charles Jehlinger Award for Best Actress. In NY, she has worked with several different theatre companies, including the renowned Spanish Repertory Theatre where Monica was a member for over 11 years. Her stage work includes plays from such well-known authors as Christopher Marlowe, Calderon de la Barca, Federico Garcia Lorca, Chekhov, Shaw, Wendy Wasserstein, among many others. She has been the recipient of 3 ACE Awards, 4 HOLA Awards and 1 Sin Limite Award; all for her outstanding stage work.
In film, Monica has shared the screen with Timothy Dalton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Leguizamo, Harvey Keitel and most recently Edward James Olmos and Tony Plana. Her leading role in the award winning comedy ‘Destiny Has no Favorites,’ shot in Peru, earned her the ‘Golden Paoa Award’ for Best Actress at the Viña del Mar International Film festival in Chile. ‘Destiny’ was screened in several film festivals around the world, including the acclaimed Cannes Film Festival in France where Monica had the unforgettable experience of walking down the red carpet. ‘Shut Up and Do it!’ and ‘The Position’, films where Monica also played the female lead, both earned ‘Best Film Awards’. The first was elected best indie film by the American Latino TV Awards and the latter won “Best Short” at The Big Apple Film Festival.
On television, Monica has guest-starred on Law & Order: SVU alongside Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni and she was a series regular on the web series ‘Haute & Bothered’ on www.teen.com.
In Mexico, Monica worked on stage with such stars as Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo, Benito Castro, Paco Stanley and Guillermo Mendes. On TV, she worked for Televisa as an actor on soaps and sketch comedy shows and she was the co-host of the successful top-rated Sports Quiz Show “Deportivisimo” alongside Gerardo Liceaga. She also worked as a model doing runway shows, print and commercials and as a voice-over artist, Monica was the voice of Lucía Méndez in English for the dubbing of the soap “Tú o Nadie”.
Monica is a very successful voice-over artist. Fluent in English, Spanish and Brazilian  Portuguese, she has recorded numerous commercials, industrials, audiobooks, educational tapes, as well as having done looping and dubbing for many different types of media. She can always be heard on the radio and on TV in a variety of spots and for the past 5 years she has been the voice for MACYS in Spanish.
